Two centuries before Andy Clark and David Chalmers published the EMT (1998), Hegel was theorizing very much the same idea, only far more complexly and subtly.

Too many analytical philosophers have developed historical myopia. Reviewers for MIT Press complained about all this OLD stuff in the book: Hegel, Peirce, etc. So much more intelligent to keep reinventing the wheel ...
