What is it about?

This pain textbook is based around stories told by children, their parents and professionals. Every chapter starts with at least one story to ensure that the starting point for the reader's thinking is with the children who experience pain and the people who care for them when they are in pain. The chapter then addresses the evidence base for the specific topic

Why is it important?

No other pain textbook that addresses children's pain has had stories at its heart.

Perspectives

This book is important to me as it represents some of the hundreds and hundreds of stories I have heard during my career as a clinical nurse and as a researcher. Stories are important as they can help us understand children's suffering and they can help us to improve our care.
