What is it about?
Cardiac progenitor cells transplantation improves cardiac function after myocardial infarction. This effect is largely mediated by secreted factors. Exosomes , secreted nano-sized membrane vesicles, act as intercellular carriers of proteins and nucleic acids including miRNA. We investigated the role of Exo in the paracrine secretion by human CPCs.

Why is it important?
As a cell-free product, Exosomes have a potential for circumventing the limitations of cell therapy for cardiac repair.
