Why is it important?
This research article describes the initial findings in regards to the developmentof a simple and direct method for the direct MS identificationof differentially expressed protein “markers” in dilute solutionsof body fluids and in aqueous suspensions of dried body fluidparticles. Although body fluids are complex mixtures of proteins, and even though the “marker” proteins detected in this reportedmethod are not unique to any one fluid, the simple and directapproach for body fluid identification is nevertheless effective. This is because “marker” proteins detected by this approach arethe most abundant proteins in those fluids that are important inforensic casework.
