What is it about?
Due to the frequent industrial and therapeutic applications, many flavonoid compounds have been studied chemically, but the physiological processes of most flavonoid compounds have been studied relatively little. Metabolic or ecological effects have been reported or inferred in some flavonoid compounds, but cannot yet be interpreted from this point of view.

Why is it important?
Recently, attempts have been made to reconstruct the genesis of flavonoid compounds in the cell, a categorical physiological problem and undoubtedly important both for the biological mechanism and for the secretion and excretion functions, too little known so far, of the plant.
Perspectives

The role of flavonoid compounds has also been tried to elucidate in a phylogenetic perspective; thus, it was found that flavonoid compounds are more and more numerous and varied in the evolutionary process of the plant kingdom.
