What is it about?

This paper is about healthy nutritional habits and hydration that are fundamental components for sustaining life, health and well-being. Certain dietary patterns and lifestyles could help delay the ageing process and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. We explored any potential association between nutritional habits and cognitive performance later in life and identified research gaps for future studies on healthy ageing.

Why is it important?

The findings indicate that lifestyle reflects personal choices as an indicator of socioeconomic status that influences cognition. There is a link between lifestyle and micro- (e.g., nutrition and exercise) and macro- (e.g., physical and social environment) elements in life.

Perspectives

Personally, I believe that nutrition and lifestyle are factors that have an important impact on healthy aging and cognitive performance. This article is only an integrative literature review on this topic that shows a pattern between health living and well-being across the life span.
