What is it about?

This is a single-center experience about hematopoietic allogeneic stem cell transplantation in patients with therapy-related leukemia.

Why is it important?

The main predicting factor for OS resulted in the karyotype and the recipient performance status at transplant.[38,54,56] Patients achieving a CR before transplantation showed better outcomes, whereas multiple therapy lines increase organ damage as well as the incidence of neutropenia, infection events and the immunosuppression of the patient increased TRM,in our cohort, global OS appeared to fit with those reported from several authors, NRM appeared the major cause of death. We observed a high DFS (72.2%), perhaps attributable to a high cGvHD rate after HSCT, corresponding to an enhanced GvL effect Graft-versus leukemia (GvL) effect, especially associated with chronic GvHD.
