Container Migration in the Fog: A Performance Evaluation

What is it about?

Containers have been recently getting much popularity to encapsulate Fog Computing services. Container migration may be a key enabler of several Fog Computing use cases. This paper discusses the state-of-the-art container migration techniques and evaluates them on a real Fog Computing testbed.

Why is it important?

This is currently the only paper that evaluates and compares all the existing container migration techniques over a real Fog Computing testbed. The obtained results shed light on container migration within Fog Computing environments by clarifying, in general, which migration technique might be the most appropriate under certain network and service conditions.
