What is it about?
Whereas gene expression (GR) profiles are provided as a matrix format, protein-protein interaction (PPI) is provided as a network. Thus, it is not straightforward to integrated GE and PPI. In this study, we proposed to integrated GE and PPI with tensor decomposition (TD) by formatting PPI as matrix.

Why is it important?
In this study, we apply integration of GE and PPI with TD to the integration of two PPI data with as many as 26 cancer types GE retrieved from TCGA. Not only we can get singular value vectors (SVVs) more coincident with class labels when GE is integrated with PPI than those when only GE is analysed, but also genes selected with SVVs is more enriched by biological terms when integration is performed than that without integration.
