What is it about?
The study was conducted on the coast of Buton Island Wakorumba District, Muna Regency in order to analyze the sex ratio and the first size of mature gonad mud clams. The sex ratio data were analyzed using Chi-square Method (X2) and the first size of mature gonads was analyzed using the Spearmen-Karber Method (Udupa, 1986). The ratio of gonad mud clams of Anodontia edentula Linnaeus, 1758 based on the sampling time is in proportional balance (X2 value 19,6447> 4,3027), while according to the observation station (plot) is in unbalanced proportion where more males than females (value X2 0.7185> 4.3027). The first size of mature gonad of mud clams Anodontia edentula Linnaeus, 1758 male sexes had mean shell length 38,60 mm (38,14-39,06 mm), while female reached mean of 34,14mm (34,14 mm) 33.56-34.73 mm). Mud clams on the coast of Buton Island, the first size of true gonad for male sex of 39.7 mm and female of 38.0 mm.
