What is it about?
This paper provides evidence and discusses the issues associated with the treatment of gender dysphoria, and the inadequacy of the gender-affirmative models of care model to address the condition at its root cause. It also points to an exceptional opportunity to advance the understanding, prevention, and treatment of complex multifactorial conditions such as gender dysphoria via solutions that apply intelligent technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence and machine learning) to multidimensional patients' data - that is data captured according to the multiple interrelated health and wellbeing dimensions (i.e., physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual). The technologically advanced and holistic models of care carry the potential to identify patterns within the data, generate useful insights, and support the development of effective prevention and personalized treatment strategies.

Why is it important?
The gender-affirmative model of care has proven to be questionable and even damaging in many cases, and it requires urgent attention and re-evaluation. There is a pressing need to continue research and develop and implement alternative models of care. New technological advances play a crucial role in this.
