What is it about?
Panel methods are a cost effective way to model the aerodynamics of aircraft wings, which is important for optimization problems as many design iterations are required. However, for unconventional geometries, which may arise in the optimization procedure, panel methods can predict non-physical results. We introduce methods for applying optimization to aerodynamic problems modeled by panel methods that ensure robustness.
