What is it about?
A key concept for reducing noise produced by high speed jet engines involves the use of carefully tailored nozzle shapes. Our work shows that tailoring the distribution of gas temperature inside the nozzle can produce the same jet flow characteristics as tailored nozzle shapes, indicating a new engineering pathway for practical noise reduction.
