What is it about?
Currently, cold-cured epoxy composite materials open up new opportunities for repair and restoration work, since they allow not only to put a large number of equipment back into operation, but also to ensure an increase in its service life. Very often, updated equipment acquires new qualities, such as corrosion and chemical resistance, increased abrasion resistance. The possibility of regulating the curing rate and the complex of adhesive, deformation-strength and dynamic mechanical properties of polymers based on bisphenol A dithioester (thiirane) using a mixture of amine hardeners of various chemical nature is investigated. Industrially available hardeners (diethylenetriamine, diethylenetriamine methylphenol and aminopolyamide) were investigated as hardeners. The ratio of the components of the mixed hardener is selected, which provides the best combination of strength properties. It was found that the rate of adhesion and cohesive strength at the initial stage (during the first hour) of curing compositions containing a mixture hardener significantly exceed compositions cured by individual components of the mixture.

Why is it important?
The use of fast-curing materials makes it possible to carry out repair and restoration work in the air without heating and pressure, outside the protective environment, which allows repair work to be carried out at the site of the breakdown, without completely dismantling the equipment. In addition, these materials do not contain solvents and do not shrink after curing.
