What is it about?

The Uraria picta, commonly known as Prisniparni, has antioxidant activity by reducing free radical formation as well as chemopreventive ability as proven by a decrease in cumulative tumor count, tumor incidences, tumor burden and yield, and tumor multiplicity and increase in the tumor latency period. The antioxidant property may be responsible for the chemopreventive efficacy of U. picta root methanol extract although the exact mechanism and particular phytoconstituents accountable for the activity is still to be identified.

Why is it important?

Cancer cases are increasing throughout the world nowadays, which results in reduced quality of life and increased financial burden on society. This would help find a better therapeutic alternative to existing therapeutics for preventing or treating skin cancer so that the quality and expectancy of life can be improved.

The article is all about the chemoprevetion of skin cancer using natural remedies which are always a source of medicines. The phytoconstituents are the best alternative for the conventional treatment having a higher side effect profile and being costly.
