Translating Celan semiosically

A semiosic translation of Paul Celan’s Weggebeizt

Celan’s primary concern in his later period was to refine the thematization of Nothingness. To achieve this goal, he had to avoid falling in the trap of poetizing Holocaust (Weller 2016: 78), by giving up euphony and thereby gaining in accuracy. This turn was a necessary move to flesh out the semiosis of Holocaust by means of a language that could accurately work as a framing device for his poetry.
