What is it about?
Manganese (II) complexes of oxalic dihydrazones {N,N'-bis[2-hydroxynaphthylidene]amino]oxamide (BHO) and N,N'-bis[2-methoxybenzylidene]amino]oxamide (BMO)} have been synthesized. In view of the data acquired from the elemental analyses (CHNM), spectral (IR, mass, 1H-NMR, UV-Vis., ESR), thermal and magnetic measurements, the structures of ligands and their complexes have been set up. The surface morphology of the desired complexes was examined by SEM. The manganese complexes are proposed to have octahedral stereochemistry. The free ligands and their manganese (II) complexes were assessed for their antibacterial and antileukemia activities. The obtained information uncovered that the proliferation hindrance for the free ligands was enhanced upon coordination with the manganese (II) ions.
