What is it about?

Transmedia education has burst into the educational field in recent years generating new forms of active student-centred learning. However, its effectiveness and how it affects foreign language learning is still unknown. This article reviews studies of the application of Transmedia Storytelling or Transmedia Narratives to detail the benefits of the result of its application and the main achievements reached by students in learning foreign languages. This qualitative synthesis, which arises from the review of studies published on the matter from 2010 to 2020, allows us to describe the current state of the issue and to recommend this innovative methodological technique in the educational context for the development of the linguistic competences of a foreign language.
