Why is it important?

The article is important because it blends the applied behavioral science approach of appreciative inquiry with the digital object interviewing from media ecology. It also examines the on-line form of the journal as a data-base as well as what simple counts and percentages can reveal about the respective editorial terms, media landscape, disciplinary breadth, attention to sponsoring organization mission, and contributor demographics. Data is depicted in a number of basic tables where explanation and inferences are offered. The accompanying text provides a narrative or storyline of the journal to date and indicates future possibilities.

Perspectives

The article's preparation was quite arduous as it involed much data entry and review of over 650 articles spanning the 20 years of the journal's publication so far. All the work proved satisfying in the way the article finally came together. Hopefully, the result will be useful to researchers in terms of method as well as to readers, future authors and editors regarding what the journal has addressed in the past and what could be considered in the years ahead.
