What is it about?
This article is about understanding and managing two conditions called fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. These conditions can cause symptoms such as chronic pain, fatigue, and reduced physical ability. We reviewed many studies to learn more about how these conditions affect people's fitness and muscle function compared to healthy individuals. The findings showed that people with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome generally have lower physical fitness levels than those without these conditions. This means they may struggle with endurance activities, like walking or exercising for longer periods. Additionally, their muscle strength, power, and endurance may be reduced, making it harder to perform tasks that require physical strength. .

Why is it important?
Decreased physical fitness and function can gradually and potentially alter the ability to cope with physical and mental stress, increasing the hours of inactivity during the day. Sedentarism can be detrimental in different ways because it increases the chances of getting diagnosed with other conditions and comorbidities that would drastically decrease the quality of life of people living with FMS and CFS
