What is it about?
The daylight climate of Athens, Greece is presented in this work. The term "daylight climate" reflects the variations and trends of the daylight levels in a long period of time (in this case 1992-2017, 26 years).

Why is it important?
The study shows that the variations and trends in the daylight levels follow those of the solar irradiance. Since the period after 1990 has been characterised as the "brightening effect" (recovery of the solar irradiance levels in the western world at least), the same conclusion is drawn for daylight. The study is the first worldwide to show such a recovery in the daylight levels after 1990.
