Why is it important?
This study sheds light on residents’ support for tourism development in the UAE. It examines the relationship between residents’ demographic characteristics and their support for tourism development and makes several academic and management contributions. The study is first to use the Bayesian SEM multigroup approach to overcome the major issue of the nonnormal distributions of data. The results showed that residents’ perceptions influence residents’ support for tourism development. Further analysis showed that gender, education and nationality influence the perceptions of residents, while length of residency and age did not have a significant effect.
