What is it about?
In this systematic review commissioned by the American Psychiatric Association, the authors assess and critique the current evidence base for psilocybin treatment of psychiatric disorders. Although there is initial promising evidence in certain conditions, such as major depression, there is currently insufficient evidence to substantiate psilocybin as an efficacious treatment for any mental health condition. The authors provide additional recommendations on how to strengthen the evidence base and move towards possible future regulatory approval.
