What is it about?
In this publication we review the state-of-the-art on stress corrosion cracking and hydrogen embrittlement of magnesium and magnesium alloys.

Why is it important?
Even though magnesium alloys combine adequate strength with low density, they are intrinsically susceptible to corrosion and environmentally assisted cracking. Several conflicting mechanisms try to explain stress corrosion cracking phenomenon. In this article, we present and debate the most different viewpoints.
