What is it about?
Nowadays, car manufacturers are using In-Vehicle Wireless Sensor Networks (IVWSN) to make assembling cars faster, save costs on wiring and repairs, and reduce the weight of vehicles, which helps save fuel. There isn't just one type of wireless technology for IVWSN because each has its own features, which makes them easy to use in cars. However, there's a lack of research on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) for cars, especially ones with a mesh network. This study aims to fill that gap by testing Bluetooth 5 technology in a mesh network on public buses. We set up sensors in a bus to mimic an IVWSN and tested it under different conditions to see how well it worked with passengers and the surroundings.

Why is it important?
Our findings show that Bluetooth 5 in a mesh network is a good option for IVWSN because it hardly loses any data packets, covers a wide area, and has better signal strength and stability compared to older versions, making it suitable for time-sensitive tasks.
