What is it about?
What motivates SMEs to use cybersecurity solutions? That's not an easy question, but we actually have quite a good idea of the answer at this stage. SMEs want a solution that gives them the freedom to make their own choices. They want to feel competent while using the solution and usually need some social stimulus to get started. We used all of these insights to create an intuitive and effective cybersecurity application. And we have the screenshots to prove it!

Why is it important?
SMEs are vulnerable when it comes to cybersecurity, which shows in the large number of SME cyber attack victims. Yet, if you ask the average SME owner, they will likely say that cybersecurity is not a priority for them. Part of the reason for this is the lack of cybersecurity knowledge and resources at SMEs. You can't really blame them. When's the last time you spent money on something you know nothing about? We can't expect SMEs to take the first step themselves, so we have to help them. This is what our application is for.
Perspectives
I loved working together with some of my international colleagues on this paper. I'm also really happy with the result. I honestly feel the application screenshots we present in this paper are what the ideal cybersecurity application for SMEs should look like. Simple, yet effective.
