What is it about?
Endoscopic biliary stenting is the favored modality of palliation of malignant biliary obstruction. Early stent migration resulting in duodenal perforation is a rare complication of this procedure. The present case report highlights intraperitoneal duodenal perforation secondary to early migration of biliary stent, with consequent peritonitis. We emphasize the importance of prompt diagnosis and the use of endoscopic clipping in the management of this serious complication of biliary stenting.
