What is it about?
Society increasingly recognizes the problem of distracted pedestrian behavior, but rigorous scientific trials to change pedestrian behavior and reduce distraction while we cross the street has lagged. This study proposes use of innovative technology to message the smartphones of distracted pedestrians as they approach an intersection and encourage them to cross safely, undistracted by their phones.
