What is it about?
This paper presents a protocol for a scoping review to identify evidence for provision of community-based integrated care for young children and families. The scoping review forms one part of a larger study, including community consultation. We aim to build to the evidence for providing equitable access to services for children and families.

Why is it important?
To our knowledge this is the first scoping review specific to provision of integrated care for children and their families in the first five years of the child's life. This age is critical to child development, as is timely and equitable access to services.
Perspectives
There is a widely reported issue of equitable access to services for children and families. This study seeks to address that issue in one community using a sound evidence base. This scoping review is one part of the groundwork for an ongoing evidence-based intervention that we hope will be transferable to other communities.
