Characterization of the atypical Ppz/Hal3 phosphatase system from the pathogenic fungus Cryptococcus neoformans

What is it about?

We show here than, in contrast to other fungi, Hal3-like proteins have not moonlighting functions in C. neoformans. They are involved only in coenzyme A biosynthesis and not in the regulation of the Ppz1 protein phosphatase
