What is it about?
Colombia have been vaccinating children against hepatitis B since 1993. Now, it seems that transmission of this important cause of chronic liver diseases is about to be eliminated among children at least. It would lead to an important decrease of the number of deaths by cirrhosis and other chronic liver diseases in the years to come.

Why is it important?
This is the first demonstration that the Latin American strategy for Hepatitis B control is working.
Perspectives
Participating in this evaluation was very exciting because it allows me to understand the perspectives on hepatitis B elimination from other national and international prestigious institutions. Also, I learnt about rapid evaluation methods that combine field and laboratory work.
