What is it about?
Video compression techniques play a vital role in storage and transmission of data through the limited bandwidth capability.

Why is it important?
This study proposes a compression method that can obtain a highest compression ratio and high quality for video compression. The proposed method consists of five phases. In the First phase, the main frames from the digital video through opening the header of video are split using ASCII long function. The Second phase is to transform colors from RGB to YUV color space, which consist of two main components the luminance (Y) and the chrominance (UV). In the third phase, Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Motion techniques are combined to generate the new method and to reduce the spatial and temporal redundancy. In the next phase, the DCT coefficients are coded using Embedded Zerotree Wavelet (EZW) algorithm. Finally, Run Length Encoding (RLE) technique is used to encode the symbols sequences. The proposed method splits movie file based on the skew measurements with a specific threshold determined by the EZW algorithm. The proposed method confirms that the EZW algorithm is effective compression algorithm.
