What is it about?

The COVID-19 caused a transition into new and unfamiliar information environments, paradoxically characterized both by forced connectivity and social isolation. To mitigate the various symptoms, caused by this development, varied literacies, such as information literacy, media literacy, visual literacy, health literacy, as well as science literacy, already known before, remained important. Data literacy and approaches, not called literacies, such a data citizenship, data doing, and data participation became increasingly important for serving both researchers and men of the street, who require a wide-reaching recognition of discrepancies between data and reality.

Why is it important?

Although some of the above initiatives already existed before, they had to be adopted to the quick evolution of the COVID-19 and in order to eliminate the lack of transparency about its development, and find authoritative information and data. To enable this, libraries and educational institutions should be involved in these activities.
