What is it about?
Rural, smallholder farmers can hardly access formal credit systems. In the face of these challenges, rural farmers develop innovative ways, such as joining susu groups, or participating in off-season labor engagement, purposely to generate funds for farm investment. Policy makers need to focus on these innovative mechanisms to facilitate farmers access to funds for agricultural investment and productivity growth.
