Why is it important?
Optimal controls minimize a given objective functional. We show that certain objective functionals of integral type lead to controls that reach the desired terminal states in finite time.
Perspectives

We expect that the mathematical structure that the non smooth L1-objective functional leads to time optimal controls also is valid for systems that are governed by more general hyperbolic partial differential equation.
