What is it about?

We developed a high-gain dual-band 2-D leaky-wave antenna with a unified feeding network and heterogeneous cavity on high-k material for seamless integration of the antenna with an active circuit in a opt-electronic transceiver. In this study, we showed that using single-mode PRS in a 2-D leaky-wave antenna on high-k material results in a low-gain radiation since PRS and cavity resonances are merged. We showed that instead of SMR, if we use multi-mode resonance (MMR) PRS, the radiation performance can be improved by 4 dBi.

Why is it important?

This work is crucial for the development of current and future low-loss and high efficient mmW/THz radio-over-fiber transceiver, as in these systems monolithic integration of antenna with active circuit is crucial.

Perspectives
