What is it about?

Modelling interaction is fundamental issue in complex system simulation. Coordination models and technologies deal with interaction. So, simulation frameworks based on coordination models suit well complex system simulation. In particular, those based on nature-inspired models suit well the simulation of complex natural systems. A simple case study – a single signalling pathway from the complex network of the Ras signalling pathways – is used in this paper as an example.

Why is it important?

Simulation based on nature-inspired coordination models and technologies is quite new, in particular when applied to complex biological systems.

Perspectives

Not just multi- and inter-disciplinary, but also trans-disciplinary approaches are going to be essential for our understanding of complex systems, such as biological ones.
