What is it about?
It's about the dynamics of international climate change negotiations. We invite participants to play a game in which they are given some money and must decide how much they would like to contribute towards a group target. The more money they contribute, the more likely their group is to succeed in achieving the target, but the less money they will have left at the end of the game. This creates a trade-off between individual and group interests. We find that what people think is fair is not enough to achieve the target, and that participants who are given less money at the start tend to contribute more than their fair share.
