What is it about?
Interactions between atmospheric wind stress and ocean in submesoscale scales (100m - 10km) is investigated using numerical methods. Wind stress curl/divergence are found to be strongly modified by the submesoscale surface structures, and it, in turn, can introduce significant impacts on the ocean processes.

Why is it important?
This work helps to better understand the feedback between the oceanic submesoscale processes and the atmosphere, which will likely improve the fidelity of long-term climate projections, thereby bettering the principal scientific tool used to investigate climate change.
