What is it about?

Resource acquisition capacity and allocation pattern of females is different for each genetic type (selected for prolificacy, growth rate or robustness). Moreover, it seems that by varying the main energy source of the diet it is possible to modulate acquisition and allocation of resources of the different genetic types. However, the response of each one depends on its priorities over time.

Why is it important?

Robust females were characterised by an acquisition capacity better fitted to changing requirements. In fact, foundation of a robust line by functional longevity would have promoted body reserve safeguards to ensure performance in the long term.
