What is it about?
This work provides a statistical mechanical method for computing the pair microstructure in a concentrated colloidal suspension. The structure is consistent with simulation and experiment. A method for applying the structure to determine the nonlinear rheology, including normal stress differences, is described and applied.

Why is it important?
This work is the first to develop a "liquid-state" description of the structure and properties of sheared colloidal suspensions, with the rate-dependent rheology self-consistently linked to the computed structure.
