Why is it important?

Flow-following sensor devices have the potential to generate detailed data in large-scale bioreactors that can be used for characterisation of gradients in the bioreactors, and potentially also for validation of computational fluid dynamics models. Until now, validation of computational fluid dynamics models at large scale has been very challenging due to the difficulties of collecting sufficiently detailed data at large scale.
