Why is it important?
The ethanol and chloroform fractions produced inhibition zones with the ranges of 12 to 20 mm and 7 to 21 mm, respectively; where they strongly inhibited the growth of Shigella sonnei, Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae and Microsporum sp. Crude fractions also revealed the presence of antidiarrheal, antiinflammatory and membrane stabilization, anti-amylase as well as antipyretic activities.
