What is it about?

The paper reports low nesting success of the endemic Turkestan (or Saxaul) Ground-jay due to a wide range of nest predators. The species shows preference to nest in two taller species of shrub in these semi-arid desert habitats, but these shrub species are heavily exploited (cut for firewood). It is possible that habitat degradation may expose nests to increased predation risk.
