Why is it important?

From the experimental results, it was shown that there is a high possibility that damping induced by stirring granular materials can be adopted as passive damping. A good agreement between the DEM simulation and the experiment for the relationship between the rotational angle and the torque was observed.

Perspectives

The damping systems by stirring granular materials are expected to suppress low-frequency structural vibrations.
