What is it about?

The sFlt-1/PlGF ratio can improve prediction of early-onset preeclampsia for women at risk of this condition

Why is it important?

Early-onset preeclampsia is associated with a higher incidence of adverse perinatal outcomes, including oligohydramnios, Apgar score<7, stillbirth and early neonatal death. As early intervention is important to improvematernal and fetal outcomes and the classical clinical markers of preeclampsia (hypertension and proteinuria) are poorly predictive of those who will develop the condition, markers of angiogenesis can help to aids to early-onset preeclampsia prediction

Perspectives

The study was a great opportunity to work on a novel research line in the early detection of a very important problem in pregnancy
