What is it about?
Capacity checks of reinforced concrete cross-sections in structural engineering often have to be performed under seismic loads. Actions inside structural elements during an earthquake are time-varying quantities whose peaks are usually evaluated by means of a structural analysis. While the response has more than a single components, it is necessary to take properly into account the time-correlation of the peaks by means of Seismic Response Envelopes. This article presents a finite-element oriented algorithm performing capacity checks of reinforced concrete cross sections after the computation of seismic envelopes.

Why is it important?
Seismic envelopes have been proposed in 2000 but their employment in structural analysis practice has been compromized by the lack of efficient computational tools. The paper aims to fill the gap between current practice and scientific research allowing for an easy and straightforward use of the seismic envelopes.
