What is it about?
Now a days coordination metals and their complexes have attracted the attention of researchers as distinctive chemical, electronic, and photophysical properties of the metal ions and their complexes render them particularly useful for a broad spectrum of biological applications. We have synthesized Heteroleptic silver(I), nickel(II), and copper(II) complexes of N4-substituted thiosemicarbazones and ciprofloxacin and screened for anti-proliferative properties.

Why is it important?
The properties of the complexes are evaluated/screened and studied by using different spectroscopic (FT-IR, UV-Vis, EPR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, EPR and ESI-mass) techniques, computational studies (DFT), in vitro anti-proliferative properties using MTT reduction assay against against four cancerous (lung [A549], estrogen negative [MDA-MB-231], estrogen positive [MCF-7] and Henrietta's cancer cells [HeLa]), and one non-cancerous (non-tumorigenic human breast epithelial cell line [MCF-10a]) cell lines, induce apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 cells, using acridine orange/ethidium bromide staining method, in silico molecular modelling with EGFR, and in silico pharmacokinetics properties. The synthesized complexes exhibited anti-proliferative properties.
