What is it about?

The paper demonstrates for the first time how to guarantee convergence of the algorithms used to solve the Ideal Adsorbed Solution Theory equations. It identifies also the Fast-IAS as the state-of-the-art algorithm in terms of computational performance.

Why is it important?

The Ideal Adsorbed Solution Theory is the best approach to predict multicomponent adsorption from single component isotherms. Its use has been limited by the lack of understanding of how to implement robust and efficient algorithms in process simulations.

Perspectives

This is a paper that should stand the test of time. The rigour of the derivations and the analysis has solved an important problem in adsorption engineering for those who develop advanced simulation tools.
