The study shows that methanol leaf extract of Asystasia vogeliana acute toxicity is above 5000 mg/kg and the plant stabilizes erythrocyte membrane at 62.5 mg /kg during Sub-acute administration for 28 days.

The significance of the study is that the methanol leaf extract of Asystasia vogeliana is rich in polyphenol compounds and stabilizes erythrocyte membrane which could be used for treating diseases such as chronic liver disease, iron deficiency anemia and sickle cell anemia.
